Wintersun - Faiths of Skyrim
by EnaiSiaion
★★★★★
Wintersun - Faiths of Skyrim lets your character dedicate themselves to a god. There are 50 to choose from, including the Nine Divines, the Daedric Princes, and the pantheons of the elves, Yokudans and Khajiit.
It’s a lightweight mod that changes how a playthrough feels without rebuilding the game around itself.
How it works
- Choose a deity. Pick a starting god at character creation based on your race, or commit later by visiting a shrine, reading holy books, or accepting a sudden divine temptation.
- Build favor. Once you’re dedicated you gain a new Pray power. Pray daily, follow your deity’s tenets and avoid their taboos, and your Favor climbs from 0% to 100%.
- Follower status. Joining unlocks a passive ability tailored to your god, and it often scales with your Favor.
- Devotee status. Reach 100% Favor and you unlock a second, far stronger ability unique to that deity.
- Abandonment. Ignore your duties or break your tenets and Favor drops. At 0%, your deity abandons you and the powers go with them.
Good to know
- The scripts are described as lightweight, built to avoid save bloat.
- It’s described as safe to install or remove mid-playthrough. Back up your save first anyway.
- It conflicts with mods that change shrine blessings or alter the VoicePoints and VoiceRate actor values.
- If your Skyrim Special Edition or Anniversary Edition install is from before December 2023, you’ll need the Backported Extended ESL Support (BEES) patch for the latest updates. Always check the requirements on the mod page.
- There’s also a version on Bethesda.net mods.
Add-ons worth a look
- Wintersun Nordic Addon splits the ancient Nordic pantheon (Kyne, Stuhn, Tsun, Jhunal, Orkey, Alduin) into its own deity system.
- Wintersun - Tribunal Integration brings in the Dunmer Tribunal (Almalexia, Sotha Sil, Vivec), tied to the Anniversary Edition’s Ghosts of the Tribunal content.
